Your proposal: London Underground is running its \'together for
London\' campaign, with smug little kids pledging to be good boys and girls. I
was thinking of something that used that theme, but focussed on the
housing industry (the housing situation is so bad for so many people),
maybe a set of businessmen who pledged to responsible lending, landlords
who pledged to keep their properties in good conditions

photographic exhibition an investigative photographic exhibition taking
photos of the shit holes that people have to live in and contrasting it
with photos of the private landlords who owned these places.... i love
art which is about hidden personal emotion.... subtle emotions...

I like jespers idea.

- find something that reflects what you grew up as / how you grew up / the feeling of childhood.
- a quest
- what does warmth feel like?
- have a homeless person portray themselves as they want to on a photo
- take a photo of the kiosks/imbiss on your street/in your neighborhood
- make a sculpture out of knick-knacks
- photograph your "messy box/drawer/basket" you put random stuff in to.
- tag people with clothespins

This is probably what you'd expect from someone like me, but here goes anyways:

-Squat a building, that it might be transformed into an open art space for however long.
-make arrangements with local schools and other such institutions, that the locals might get involved. the nature of the project is not important, more important is the idea of giving back to the community. help kids learn to photograph, paint, whatever. make it a learning experience.
-use the squatted space to exhibit the works of the local. dismember art; make it democratic and accessible. this will also ensure the longevity of your squat, as the locals will be on your side.
-document! even if one kid paints one line on one paper and that's all that happens for a day, the documentation in and of it self can become the art project (are you with me?)

for a project such as this, i'd want you to look to the structure of the Documenta in kassel, that also has a tranformative raison d'etre. but also check out Eric S raymonds The Cathedral and The Bazaar...he's talking about software, but maybe the approach is interesting for your project? http://catb.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/
